The Melbourne-based troupe Strange Fruit swayed in the air atop five-meter-high poles yesterday in a performance on the Quad of Three Belles, which blends theater, dance, and circus. Originally based on the image of a field of wheat swaying in the breeze, the poles’ extreme strength and flexibility allowed the performers to bow to sharp angles.
