Eight exiled Tibetan monks were on campus last week for a three-day residency. The monks, from the Drepung Gomang Monastery for Advanced Studies and Practice on Buddhist Philosophy, created a sand mandala in the Interfaith Chapel of Hogg Hall, presented lectures and workshops on Buddhist teachings, and performed a traditional yak dance on the Quad. After the mandala was dismantled, they led a procession down Third Street and scattered the sand in the Bushkill Creek.
