Alex Karapetian ’04, director of sales and marketing at Acopian, served as host for electrical and computer engineering majors Sam Cesario ’15 (Matawan, N.J.), Nicholas DiNino ’15 (West Hartford, Conn.), Brendan Malone ’15 (South Burlington, Vt.), and Armen Mkhitarian ’16 (Tenafly, N.J.).

For the students, the week-long experience was like being a professional in the workforce. They participated in design review meetings, created a product user table for Acopian’s newest digital interface development project, and helped build a new piece of equipment that will test a new product line.

“This externship helped me refine my expectations and goals for my career,” says DiNino. “Now I know that I want to specifically work with electrical engineering, with a focus on physical circuits and analog design.”

Acopian Power Supplies was founded by Karapetian’s late great-uncle, Sarkis Acopian ’51, in 1956. His uncles, Greg Acopian ’70 and Jeff Acopian ’75, and cousin, Ezra Acopian ’03, work alongside him at the company. He is president-elect of the Alumni Association.
