President Alison Byerly announced the appointment to the campus community today.

“I am delighted that I will have the opportunity to continue to work with Kim in her new role and am excited about the leadership she will bring to the capital campaign. She has served with dedication and established a record of success that prepared her well for the new duties she assumed last spring,” Byerly said.

“I know that she will do an excellent job of helping alumni and friends of the College understand why this campaign is critical to Lafayette’s future, and that she will be an effective advocate for the ambitious goals we have set for ourselves.”

Spang oversees the offices of development, alumni relations, and career services. She joined Lafayette in 2003 and held various fundraising positions before being appointed associate vice president for development in 2010. A graduate of Kutztown University, she had previously worked as a senior sales and marketing manager for the Walt Disney Company.

Kim, congratulations and welcome to a challenging position. I have been the class fund manager for the class of 1959 for thirty years and have enjoyed working with your people in the development office–you should be proud of these hard workers. Good luck on the capital campaign; I was privileged to work on the last campaign, which was hugely successful. Here’s hoping this one is equally beneficial to the College.

    Congratulations, Kim –
As someone who spent my career in the nonprofit sector (college and university administrator, foundation officer, development officer, consultant, and associate professor, as well as writing articles and books about development and fundraising), I am sure you are up for the opportunities and challenges of your new position. On, Lafayette!
