Students and faculty recently took part in a sabar dance workshop in Lafayette’s new film & media studies and theater building on North Third Street.

The sabar is a vibrant drum and dance tradition of the Wolof people of Senegal. The lecture and workshop were presented by Patricia Tang, associate professor of music at MIT, and Lamine Touré, one of Senegal’s leading percussionists. The event was hosted by the Africana Studies Program and partially funded through Lafayette’s Mellon Foundation grant.
