What do you get when you cross a Lafayette-branded Airstream trailer with two passionate and slightly zany alumni and a killer recipe for Mountain Hawk wings?

An Airstream camper with "Beat Lehigh" and the Lafayette Leopard on the side

Michael ’82 and Jenny Marshall ’82 Weisburger are driving this Airstream camper 3,000 miles across the country for #Rivalry150.

A pep rally on wheels, courtesy of the Lafayette Alumni Association and Michael ’82 and Jenny Marshall ’82 Weisburger, who are hauling an Airstream camper 3,000 miles across the country to galvanize the Lafayette community for the historic 150th football game against Lehigh in Yankee Stadium Nov. 22.

Road Trip to #Rivalry150 kicks off in Los Angeles Nov. 1, followed by scheduled stops for alumni get-togethers in Denver, Houston, Atlanta, Raleigh, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia before arriving in downtown Easton Nov. 15 for the culminating Community Kick-off Event.

“The goal of the road trip is to include all members of the Lafayette family, near and far, in the excitement surrounding the historic 150th Lafayette-Lehigh game,” says Rachel Nelson Moeller ’88, executive director of alumni relations.

The couple will host events, provide giveaways, accept gifts for the Lafayette-Lehigh Giving Challenge, and meet with alumni and parents. They also will have a banner for all event attendees to sign that will be displayed at Yankee Stadium on game day.

“The 150th game only comes once in our lifetime. We’re very excited about the opportunity to get the word out that this is a big game being played by two highly regarded schools,” says Michael. “We love promoting Lafayette. It’s going to be a hoot.”

Alex Karapetian ’04, president of the Alumni Association, came up with the idea.

“It’s really to raise awareness and get people excited about our college,” he says. “We may be this small liberal arts college in Easton, Pennsylvania, but we’re a global institution. We have a lot of pride in our college … and one of the strongest bonds of an alumni group I’ve ever seen.”

In preparation, the Weisburgers are packing all their Lafayette gear so they can be cloaked “head to toe” in Pard pride. Jenny has even concocted a new recipe for chicken wings or Mountain Hawk wings, as she calls them, a daring culinary play on words considering her sister and her brother-in-law are both graduates of Lehigh.

“It’s always been a friendly rivalry,” she says.

But not too friendly. One of the largest decals on the Airstream says “Beat Lehigh,” and the Weisburgers’ fingers are crossed that some Mountain Hawk alum gets stuck behind them on the open road.

Was that you heading west on I-70 today in Denver? Hope the wind didn’t blow you off the road. I was at the game but unfortunately for me on the Lehigh side. Congrats on the victory.

This is GREAT! I am glad that Jennie and Weissy were able to get this organized. Safe and successful travels; see you in da’ Bronx!
