Members of the faculty of music at Lafayette College will present an evening of chamber music and jazz at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 16, at the Williams Center for the Arts.
The event is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the performance.
The musicians will include J. Larry Stockton, professor of music and head of the music department; Susan Charlton, director of wind chamber ensembles and instructor of flute; and Marka Young, director of string ensembles and the orchestra, and the following instructors: Alexis Firstenberg Fisher (instructor of piano); Frank Flandorffer (guitar), Betty Tang (cello); Cliff Tracy (saxophone and clarinet), and Skip Wilkins (jazz piano).
The program will include the following:
- London Trio
by Joseph Haydn, with Charlton on flute, Young on violin, and Tang on cello
- Cantabile
by Niccolò Paganini – Young (violin) and Flandorffer (guitar)
- Sonata in A Major
by Johannes Brahms – Young (violin) and Fisher (piano)
- Sonatine
by Pierre Sancan– Charlton (flute) and Fisher (piano)
- Andante and Rondo
by Franz Doppler – Charlton (flute), Tracy (flute), and Fisher (piano).
- Jazz selections – Tracy (alto saxophone), Flandorffer (guitar), Wilkins (piano), and Stockton (vibraphone)
