Since earning a master's in journalism from New York University in 1995, Easton native Carrie Lee '89 has combined a love of writing with her “practical side”-and built a fast-moving career in business journalism. Most recently, she has taken on an even faster pace as general assignment reporter for CNBC. Lee reports live and packaged financial news for the cable station operated by Dow Jones and NBC.

An economics and business graduate, Lee completed her master's “just when business journalism was getting hot,” she says. “The Internet bubble, rise in individual investing, and start of online investing all increased the demand for personal finance information.”

Lee became a staff writer for Financial World and later moved to SmartMoney. In 1998 she joined WSJ.com, where she wrote “Cyber Investing,” a biweekly personal finance column, and “Heard on the Net,” a biweekly column covering Internet investing, fraud, personalities, and trends. She also appeared weekly on CNBC's “Power Lunch,” “Today's Business,” and NBC's “Early Today.”

Lee is coauthor of The Wall Street Journal Interactive Edition's Guide to Online Investing (Crown Publishers, 2000). She won New York University's Sid Gross Investigative Reporting Award in 1995.
