A 40-year veteran of Harleysville National Bank and Trust Company in Harleysville, Pa., Walter Daller, Jr. '61, began serving a three-year term Jan. 1 as a director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. In addition to other corporate governance responsibilities, Daller will provide Fed officials with information on banking trends and the financial condition of area businesses. The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia is one of 12 regional Reserve Banks, which, together with the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., comprise the Federal Reserve System.

“I am pleased and honored to be able to represent not only our three banks, but all of banking in the Third Federal Reserve District,” said Daller, who graduated from Lafayette with a bachelor's of science in business administration.

In 1996, he was chosen by the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia to represent Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware in a three-year term on the Federal Advisory Council of the Board of Governors. In this capacity, Daller met quarterly with Chairman Alan Greenspan and the board, providing input on regional economic conditions.

Daller serves as chairman, president, and CEO of Harleysville National Corporation, the parent company of Harleysville National Bank and Trust Company. Harleysville National Corporation has assets of $2.2 billion and operates 40 banking offices in nine counties throughout eastern Pennsylvania. He also serves on the Board of Directors of TCM Bank, Tampa, Fla.

He is a member of the Independent Community Bankers of America Board of Directors and its Nominating Committee, Payments and Technology Committee, and Policy Development Committee. Daller also has served on the Governing Council of the Pennsylvania Bankers Association, and in 1993, was selected for a management appointment to the National Visa Board of Merchant Bank Services. He was president of the Community Bankers of Pennsylvania in 1988 and served a five-year term on its Board of Directors.

Within the community, Daller serves on the North Penn United Way Board of Directors, the Lower Salford Historical Society, the Muhlenberg House, Montgomery County Lands Trust, and the Perkiomen Valley Watershed. He is past president of the Limerick Lions Club and St. Luke's United Church of Christ Church Council. In 1999, Daller was named a Paul Harris Fellow by The North Penn Rotary and was the recipient of the Muhlenberg Award for outstanding leadership from the Historical Society of Trappe for the restoration of the Muhlenberg House.
