Rep. Jim Gibbons (R-Nevada) has promoted staffer Amy Spanbauer ’98 to communications director and senior legislative assistant. She was hired by the congressman in 1998 as a staff assistant and legislative correspondent, was promoted to legislative assistant and then, in 2000, to deputy press secretary.
An International Affairs and economics and business graduate, Spanbauer served an internship in Sen. Arlen Specter’s (R-Pa.) Allentown office during her senior year at Lafayette. Her introduction to life on Capitol Hill came in 1998 when she interned for Rep. Christopher Shays (R-Conn.) in his Washington, D.C. office.
