Head of human resources for Institution for Savings, Newburyport, Mass.–the nation’s oldest savings bank–Patricia Ferguson ’78 has been promoted to vice president.
Ferguson expects the Institution for Savings to remain small and independent. “It’s always been strictly a community savings bank,” she says. “It was established in 1820, and our building dates from 1870. We get busloads of visitors who come just to see the building.”
An American Studies graduate, Ferguson recalls three “fabulous” Lafayette professors: Howard Schneiderman, William Dobriner, and Richard Welch. She is on the board of directors of Women’s Crisis Center of Greater Newburyport and treasurer of Amesbury Soccer Association.
