FIELD HOCKEY WINS PATRIOT LEAGUE; THREE NAMED MIDEAST REGION ALL-AMERICANS
Field hockey won a school and Patriot League record 19 games on the way to their seventh Patriot League championship. Megan Monahan ’03, Jennifer Stone ’04, and Melissa Hoh ’04 were named to the Mideast Regional All-America Team. Head coach Ann Gold received her fifth Patriot League Coach of the Year honor.

EVANS ’57 STEPS DOWN AS VICE PRESIDENT
Gary Evans ’57 will step down as vice president for development and college relations Dec. 31. He will serve as special assistant to Pres. Arthur Rothkopf ’55, a part-time position. One of the nation’s most well-respected fund-raising executives, Evans has served Lafayette for more than 30 years. James Dicker ’85, director of development, will succeed Evans.

PBS’ NOVA FEATURES GEOLOGIST LARRY MALINCONICO
PBS television features Larry Malinconico, associate professor of geology and environmental geosciences, in a documentary on volcanoes that premiered Nov. 12 in the NOVA science series.

CONNOLLY ’02 WINS SECOND PLACE IN NATIONAL STUDENT PAPER COMPETITION
Chemical engineering graduate Daniel Connolly ’02 won second place in the National Student Paper Competition sponsored by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers for a paper based on his honors thesis.

FOUR ALUMNI TO BE INDUCTED INTO MAROON CLUB HALL OF FAME
Track and field star David Baird ’59, former Denver Bronco Tim Gerhart ’80, tennis standout Monica Yurconic ’92, and Frank Grube ’27, who starred on the undefeated 1926 national championship football team and played baseball for the Chicago White Sox and St. Louis Browns, will be inducted into the Maroon Club Hall of Fame Nov. 22.

MORE THAN 100 STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN HUNGER AND HOMELESSNESS WEEK
Students are sleeping in cardboard boxes on the Quad, delivering dinners, socks, and mittens to homeless people, and meeting with residents of a local shelter.
