KBF Pollution Management, a waste recovery company that recycles and mines metallic commodities from industrial waste, has named Richard Krablin ’66 its chief compliance officer. He is directing environmental affairs at its Paterson, N.J., headquarters and future locations. Previously, he was senior vice president of environment, health and safety for Horsehead Industries, a zinc recycler.
“An industry veteran seasoned by his tenure with the nation’s leading zinc recycler, (Krablin) brings critically relevant experience to KBF at a time when we are just beginning to scale our proprietary recycling technologies into the regional and national markets,” said Kevin Kreisler, president.
Prior to joining Horsehead, Krablin directed the worldwide environmental affairs of Atlantic Richfield’s mining and mineral processing subsidiary. He also managed the legacies and Superfund sites of the former Anaconda Co., where he started his career.
“Our environment is very much a part of our economy,” he said. “Green technologies such as KBF’s are the wave of the future.”
A physics graduate, Krablin earned masters and doctoral degrees in physics from Drexel University. He is also a graduate of the Stanford Executive Program for business leaders.
“My Lafayette College experience was a synergistic mix of liberal arts, scientific theory, and practical application of ideas that still forms the core of my understanding of the world,” said Krablin. “Without the path setting by Lafayette, I would not have been able to establish the career success I have enjoyed.”
