Two of Lafayette’s four a cappella groups and a dance theater group based in Philadelphia are holding auditions this week.
The Chorduroys, the men’s a cappella group, will hold auditions 4:15-6 p.m. today in the Kirby House library (through the main doors that face the Quad, head left to the last room on the left-hand side). Prospective members should bring a piece about two minutes long to sing solo. The style can range from pop to rock to barbershop. The tryouts also will include aural testing, sight singing, and singing with a group of current members. For more information, contact computer science and mathematics double major Robert McEwen ’05 (Morgantown, Pa.) at mcewenr@lafayette.edu or mechanical engineering major Jeremy Deaner ’04 (Fitchburg, Wis.) at deanerj@lafayette.edu.
Soulfege, the mixed a cappella group founded last school year, will hold its tryouts 6:30-8:30 p.m. tomorrow and Thursday in the Kirby House library. Bring a short solo to one of the sessions. Each audition will take about five minutes. A group of singers will gather at the Williams Center 6:30 p.m. each night and walk across the street to Kirby so those trying out can get into the building. For more information, contact psychology major Lisa Oliveri ’05 (Oradell, N.J.) at oliveril@lafayette.edu.
The student Dance Team will hold tryouts 4:30-6:30 p.m. today and Thursday in Kirby Sports Center room 229.
Headlong Dance Theater will seek students to fill some slots for dancers in its Britney’s Inferno production 6-9 p.m. in the downstairs group exercise room of Kirby Sports Center (see related story). The production will be performed Sept. 12-13 at the Williams Center. Students should bring comfortable clothes. Those who make the cut will need to rehearse the afternoon of Sunday, Sept. 7, the next three evenings (probably 6-9 p.m.), and a technical session with dress rehearsal in the late afternoon and evening of Thursday, Sept. 11.
