The McKelvy House Scholars are sponsoring the second Soap Box forum of the semester at noon Wednesday on the Quad in front of the Farinon Center.

The opportunity will be open for anyone to express their views at the microphone on a topic of their choice for five minutes. The rain date is Thursday.

For more information, email McKelvy Scholar Tim Bragdon ’04 at bragdont.

“The manner and content of speech is entirely up to the individual, and those in the audience are asked to listen actively (but respectfully), and, of course, to respond in kind if they so desire,” said McKelvy Scholar Creighton Conner ’04 before the first Soap Box on Oct. 1.

That event was organized by McKelvy Scholar Briana Niblick ’05, who arranged the format and handled advertising along with Bragdon.

“This is a chance for anyone on campus to speak his or her mind about any topic, while audience members listen attentively,” says Niblick. “An open-air forum, such as this, is not a common occurrence at Lafayette, so it’s best to take advantage of the opportunity today.”
