Easton Fire Department personnel responded to a smoke alarm in Acopian Engineering Center at about 10:45 a.m. today.
There was no fire or danger. Public safety said the alarm had been set off by a puff of smoke from a Shop Vac that backfired when member of plant operations’ general trades group was cleaning up after installing shelves in a storage closet on the second floor.
People were readmitted to the engineering center, which had been evacuated, after about 15 minutes.
