Booth McCoun ’85 leads Baptist
public relations
American Baptist National Ministries has named Tia Booth McCoun ’85 development
coordinator and publicist. In her new position, McCoun will work with the development team to
increase revenue, establish
partnerships with other organizations, and strengthen relationships among American Baptist
organizations. She will also
serve as publicist for Judson
Press and its authors.
Previously, McCoun was the owner of Executive Advocates
for more than 10 years, providing sales, marketing, and communications services to
authors, publishers, colleges, foundations, faith-based organizations, and small businesses. She was also an assistant director of enrollment at EasternCollege, St. Davids, Pa. She served Gloria Dei Church in Huntington Valley, Pa., as associate director of youth ministry.
In addition to her bachelor’s
degree in sociology from Lafayette, McCoun earned a master of divinity degree from Princeton (N.J.) Theological Seminary.
Lafayette was a turning point, said McCoun.
“My entire Lafayette education has had a tremendous impact on both my personal and professional life,” she says. “Especially
influential was Dr. Stephen Lammers [Manson Professor
of Religious Studies] whose teachings in philosophy and ethics have shaped my decision-making. He encouraged me to attend Princeton Seminary, a pivotal move. Dr. Robert Chase
[professor of biology] used a testing method that has benefited me in all that I do. At the time
his demand that we outline our answer prior to writing our essays on tests seemed like a frivolous task. However, it has been a strategy and skill that I employ
on a daily basis.”
