Kearny Federal Savings Bank in Kearny, N.J., has appointed Tracy Tripucka ’72 to the position of first vice president and director of commercial lending.
Previously, Tripucka was vice president and business development officer. Before coming to Kearny, Tripucka was business development/commercial lending officer for Allegiance Community Bank in South Orange, N.J., vice president/credit and account officer for Summit (now Fleet) Bank, and vice president/business development officer at First Union, now Wachovia.
Following a stellar collegiate basketball career in which he set many school records and earned All-America honorable mention for three consecutive seasons, Tripucka, an English graduate, coached at the U.S. Naval Academy, Fordham University, University of Utah, and U.S. Air Force Academy.
His brother, Todd Tripucka ’76, broke his school record for points in a season. Another brother, Kelly, played at Notre Dame and for the Detroit Pistons and is a sports commentator for the New Jersey Nets.
Along with this family passion for sport, Tripucka treasures the Lafayette education that has “immensely” aided his career.
“A quote on a statue of the Marquis in front of Colton Chapel says, ‘I read, I study, I examine, I listen, I reflect, and out of all of this I try to form an opinion, into which I put as much as common sense as I can,’” he recalls. “I learned to do these things at Lafayette – when I wasn’t spending too much time on the basketball court – and for this I am very grateful to the school.”
