Students gathered Wednesday in Kirby Hall of Civil Rights to watch “Journey Towards Democracy: Involving Students in the Political Process,” a live webcast screened by a new student group, Holla Back: Your Voice, Your Vote.

Presented by the Association of American Colleges and Universities, the webcast featured panelists from Democracy Matters, MoveOn, and the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press. It focused on:

  • Emerging patterns among students regarding political engagement
  • Student-driven political organizing as a means to practice democracy and effect change
  • The use of technologies to engage students in political issues and encourage participants in the electoral process.
