At its regular meeting on May 19, the faculty adopted, by a standing ovation, the following resolution:

The Faculty of Lafayette College expresses its profound appreciation of Arthur J. Rothkopf, President of the College 1993-2005, for unwaveringly and courageously advancing the College’s educational mission. He has demonstrated exemplary integrity and has earned the respect of the entire College community.

Under his leadership, the College completed the most successful capital campaign in its history, building modern facilities for teaching and scholarship in the arts and sciences and engineering, and an enhanced library that stands at the center of this revitalized campus. He has helped us to attract increasingly talented and diverse students and to provide them with greatly increased financial aid and enriched educational opportunities.

President Rothkopf has honored faculty achievements, challenged us to raise our standards and those of our students, and enlarged the faculty so as to extend our areas of learning. In these many ways, he has heightened the visibility of Lafayette College. Above all, he has encouraged us to aspire to goals previously beyond our reach.
