John Colatch, director of religious life and College chaplain, sent this message today to the campus community:

A candlelight vigil to call attention to the plight of persons affected by Hurricane Katrina will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20 on March Plaza in front of Skillman Library. Students will offer brief descriptions of the destruction and of people affected, candles will be lighted, and a moment of silence will be observed. Chaplain John Colatch will preside, and all members of the campus community and beyond are invited to attend.

The women’s basketball team has scheduled a Shoot-A-Thon fundraiser for Sunday, Sept. 25, at Kirby Sports Center. Team members and coaches will make 100 free throws. Those interested in sponsoring a student-athlete can designate an amount per free throw and donate that sum. For more information, please see the story on the athletics website or contact Shelby Kealy, assistant coach, x5498 or kealys@lafayette.edu.
