4:00 p.m. update — Electric power was restored to most buildings on campus beginning at 3 p.m. following an outage that had left most of the campus without power since 6 p.m. yesterday. MetEd’s performance in restoring power exceeded mid-morning expectations that the campus would remain without power into the evening.

9:30 a.m. update — Given the scope of the power-outage problem in the Lehigh Valley and Southeastern Pennsylvania, it is unlikely power will be restored on campus today.

Lafayette classes are being held at the discretion of the instructor.

Personnel in public safety, plant operations, and many other offices on campus are continuing to work to insure campus safety and security during the outage.

Additional information will be posted here as it becomes available. Employees may call x5060 for updated information regarding the opening/closing of administrative offices beginning at noon today.

6:30 a.m. — Most of the campus is still without electric power this morning (Wednesday, July 19) in the wake of severe thunderstorms in Easton and the region Tuesday evening. Therefore administrative offices are closed for normal business operations today.

Employees classified as essential to campus safety and security are working today according to their usual schedules.

Power went out just after 6 p.m. last evening. Personnel in public safety, plant operations, and other offices are continuing to work to insure campus safety and security during the outage, which is due to an off-campus power failure. MetEd, Lafayette’s power provider, is working to restore power.

It is anticipated that power may be restored by noon today. Employees may call x5060 for updated information beginning at noon.
