London resident Paula Gaber McNulty ’73 has directed her passion to work in both the commercial and volunteer sectors.

As chief executive of a major unit of the United Kingdom’s largest public-relations consulting firm, McNulty led a team of 40 and worked for some of Britain’s leading companies.

During the last 10 years, the English graduate has dedicated herself to service in voluntary and charitable organizations.

“My interests are wide-ranging and include the aged, mental health, children’s care, women’s refuge support, and domestic violence,” she says.

McNulty has served in several significant board, committee, and trustee positions. Her 2003-04 tenure as president of the Junior League of London (JLL) speaks to her commitment to the community.

“I specifically joined the JLL to have the opportunity to do hands-on work in the community,” she says. “I have held a lot of different positions, and I am constantly amazed by the league’s ability to absorb and, indeed, thrive on a lot of change.”

The Junior League provides its members with opportunities to give something back to the local community through programs it creates, as well as partnerships with local charities.

McNulty is most proud of the fact that under her leadership, the Junior League attained limited-liability company status and streamlined its old bylaws into new operating procedures.

“In my working life, I am most proud of merging several companies successfully and profitably and helping to develop a lot of other people’s careers,” she says.
