James P. Schaffer, Lafayette’s director of engineering since 2000, has announced that he will step down from the post at the end of the current academic year.

Schaffer plans to return to full-time teaching and research after seven years at the helm of the engineering division. A professor of chemical engineering, he has been a member of the faculty since 1990.

President Dan Weiss said, “I have only respect and admiration for the job Jim Schaffer has done as director of engineering.”
