Sometimes, the experience is better than the result. This past Labor Day, Michael LaGattuta ’79 had a chance to meet with Tampa Bay Devil Rays manager Joe Madden ’76 on the field before the team’s game against the Minnesota Twins.
“[The] Rays unfortunately lost 2-1, a usual occurrence!” LaGattuta wrote to his fellow grads on Lafayette’s Alumni Online Community.
LaGattuta—a government and law major—is a senior freelance producer for advertising agencies. He produces television and radio commercials and content for web sites.
“Some commercials I’ve produced include the AFLAC spot with Yogi Berra, and spots for Little Debbie Snacks and Wendy’s with Dave Thomas,” he says.
The Tampa, Fla., resident joined the Alumni Online Community simply to reconnect with some classmates.
”I heard from a classmate that I haven’t had any contact with since graduation,” LaGattuta notes. “Not only did I attend Lafayette with him, we also attended the same high school. It was a nice surprise in my inbox!”
In the case of joining the Alumni Online Community—unlike the outcome of the Devil Rays-Twins game—the result for LaGattuta is equally as satisfying as the experience.
