This year’s Wellness Fair will showcase local and College health organizations 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday, March 7 on the second floor of Farinon College Center. All activities are free.

Local organizations that will be on hand to offer expertise on a variety of health related issues will be the American Cancer Society, Coalition for a Smoke Free Valley, GlaxoSmithKline, Nature’s Way, Forks Township Police, Easton Hospital, Warren Hospital, Coordinated Health Systems, Planned Parenthood, and Crime Victims Council.

Also in attendance will be Thekkemadem Ramakrishnan, allergist; Andrew Li, dermatologist; Eric Goldman, acupuncturist; Lisa Muff, dentist; and Jennifer Doane, nutritionist.

College groups attending the Wellness Fair include Dining Services, Bailey Health Center, Counseling Center, and Recreation Services.

Among the activities offered will be blood pressure, cholesterol, body fat, and glucose screenings; beer goggles; acupuncture; and a computer simulation of how smokers will look as they age. There also will be the Class Fitness Challenge, in which each student registered will complete a small fitness challenge. Lafayette’s most fit class will be announced at the end of the day.

“We picked this week so students have this fresh in their minds as they jet off to their spring break trips,” says event organizer Patricia Martino, nurse at Bailey Health Center. “Students and employees use many of these services already. It gives both parties a chance to meet in a more relaxed atmosphere. In asking organizations to participate, many jumped at the chance.”
