Lafayette has produced two new videos meant to serve as an introduction to the College’s upcoming celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Marquis de Lafayette’s birth and highlight the overall student experience at Lafayette.
- The Marquis de Lafayette Movie can be viewed on the College’s Marquis de Lafayette at 250 web site.
- The Lafayette Experience Video can be viewed on the College’s Admissions web site.
The Marquis de Lafayette Movie introduces the viewer to the Marquis’ connection to the College. It tells the story of the Marquis’ role in the Revolutionary War; his Farewell Tour of America in 1824; and his meeting with James Madison Porter, which gave Porter the idea to establish and name a college in Easton after Lafayette.
The movie is one of the many aspects of the yearlong celebration in recognition of the life and legacy of the Marquis. Major events will include a lecture series, entitled Lives of Liberty, featuring renowned speakers; a historical exhibit at the Williams Center for the Arts, entitled A Son and his Adoptive Father: The Marquis de Lafayette and George Washington, and a birthday party on Sept. 6.
The Lafayette Experience Video brings out the many options available to students at Lafayette and how each student’s career at the College is unique. In the video are numerous interviews with students, faculty, and staff, including President Daniel Weiss, to show Lafayette’s entire academic, athletic, and extra-curricular package.
