Elizabeth McMahon, professor of mathematics, will host the first “Books and Coffee” program of the semester, 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26 in the back room of Gilbert’s Caf�. She will engage students, faculty, and staff in a discussion of the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling.
The presentation, “The Grand Finale of the Harry Potter Series,” will look at the seven books as a whole and will bring up questions about issues left unresolved and theories about what happens next. McMahon stresses that if students have not read the final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the ending will be discussed.
The “Books & Coffee” program gives students the opportunity to hear faculty and staff talk about topics that interest them apart from their research and teaching specializations and provides students with a chance to expand their learning by discussing books that are of interest to them.
“The Office of Student Life Programs is very excited to be hosting ‘Books & Coffee’ again this year, because we have heard such a great response from the students that they are excited about attending this event and are very interested in discussing Harry Potter on another level,” says Jessica Manjack, assistant operations manager for Student Life Programs.
