Alumni enjoy Philadelphia weekend honoring Marquis; see the slideshow on the alumni web site
More than 70 alumni and their spouses enjoyed a weekend of events in Philadelphia and the Brandywine Battlefield area Sept. 8-9 as part of the College’s yearlong celebration of the 250th anniversary of the birth of the Marquis de Lafayette.
Saturday featured tours led by Robert S. Mattison, Metzgar Professor of Art; talks by Mattison and College Archivist Diane Shaw; and a gala affair at the Ritz-Carlton.
Sunday’s events took place at the home of William Rappolt ’67, the Revolutionary War battle sites in his neighborhood, and Brandywine Battlefield.
“It was great to tour the area with the minibus and see the exact sites of the actual fighting, especially when we went to the Brandywine Battlefield Historic Site,” says Judy Ryder P’00 ’91 ’05, who participated in the weekend’s activities with husband Henry Ryder ’67.
