He will play for the Frontier League’s Traverse City Beach Bums next season
Former Leopard outfielder James Conrad ’07 has signed with the Traverse City (Mich.) Beach Bums of the Frontier League for the 2008 season, according to the team.
A mathematics graduate, Conrad finished his senior season as Patriot League Baseball Scholar Athlete of the Year and was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Third Team. In helping the Leopards win their first Patriot League title and earn a berth in the NCAA playoff tournament, he hit .369 with 7 doubles, 4 triples, 49 stolen bases, 67 runs scored, and an on-base percentage of .468 while only striking out 16 times in 203 at-bats.
He ranked third in NCAA Division I in stolen bases, eighth in runs scored, 69th in toughest to strike out, and 134th in batting average.
Another former Leopard baseball standout, Ted Gjeldum ’07, signed a rookie contract with the Kansas City Royals this year.
Jason Boyd ’04 played in the Frontier League in recent years.
