Rick Klau ’93 is a very active alumnus. He has helped resurrect the Boston Lafayette Alumni Chapter, attended alumni events in San Francisco and Chicago, and hosted a reception for prospective students at his home.
“I also stay in touch with classmates,” he notes.
Last year, he “reengaged” with Dan Betjemann ’93 and Jessie Gopinathan Betjemann ’93 after the couple moved to the town of Naperville, Ill., where he then lived.
Klau uses another great way to stay connected with the College and his classmates—the Lafayette Alumni Online Community. This summer, he announced his new position on Google’s Strategic Partner Development team with an online Class Note. Last year, he posted a note letting the Lafayette community know about the birth of his daughter. Like all news shared on the Alumni Online Community, those announcements were incorporated into the Alumni News Class Notes column for his class.
“Every once in a while I want to see what a classmate is up to, or see if anyone from Lafayette is working at a company that I’m dealing with at work,” says Klau, who majored in international affairs and French.. “Having a searchable directory of my classmates makes [the online community] a great tool for staying in touch with and reconnecting with friends. And browsing the Class Notes online has been fun, too.”
