Eleven are committed to participating in Lafapalooza: Lafayette’s National Days of Service
While the campus community volunteers in the Easton area, alumni chapters from New York to San Francisco will conduct service projects April 12 as part of Lafapalooza: Lafayette’s National Days of Service. A link to online registration will be provided through emails to alumni in participating chapter areas.
Alumni can ensure that the College has their current email address and other contact information by registering for the Alumni Online Community and providing them there.
The chapters, their projects, and links to online registration:
California: San Francisco Bay Area — San Francisco Food Bank, 900 Pennsylvania Ave., 9 a.m.-noon. Alumni will sort and prepare food for local distribution. Participants should dress in layers, as the temperature in the warehouse is often cool. Casual/grubby clothes and comfortable shoes are highly recommended. Anyone wearing open-toe shoes or sandals will not be able to participate.

California: Greater Los Angeles — City Help (Dream Center campus), 2301 Bellevue Ave., 9:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Volunteers will help bag and sort groceries for local distribution to low-income families. Washington, D.C. — Capital Area Food Bank, 645 Taylor St., NE, 8:45 a.m.-noon. Alumni will help sort and prepare food for local distribution. Volunteers should wear comfortable work clothes; jeans or long pants are highly recommended. Closed-toe shoes are required and disposable gloves are recommended.

Massachusetts: Greater Boston — Greater Boston Food Bank, 99 Atkinson St., 8:45 a.m.-noon. Alumni will inspect, sort, and repack donated grocery products that will be distributed to hunger-relief agencies. Volunteers should wear comfortable work clothes. Closed-toe shoes are required to participate.

New Jersey: Jersey Shore North and Princeton — Monmouth Battlefield State Park, 16 Business Route 33, Manalapan, 9 a.m. Alumni will take down and reconstruct a section of split rail fence that marks a Continental light infantry position during the Battle of Monmouth. All work will be guided by Monmouth Park’s chief historian, Garry Stone. Following the project, he will lead an onsite discussion of the Marquis de Lafayette’s role at the Battle of Monmouth, a key Revolutionary War battle. Alumni should bring heavy-duty gloves, substantial shoes, socks that can be pulled over pant cuffs, suntan lotion, bottled water, and insect repellant. Hats and long sleeves are recommended. Participants will meet 9 a.m. at the Monmouth Battlefield State Park’s Visitors Center.

New York: New York City — The project will involve cleanup of a public space as part of Hands on New York Day.
Pennsylvania: Lehigh Valley — Center for Animal Health and Welfare, 1165 Island Park Rd., Easton, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Volunteers will organize donations in the garage, clean up the center’s grounds and kennels, walk dogs and brush cats, and paint indoors. Volunteers should bring work gloves and comfortable work clothes. If working outdoors, suntan lotion and a hat are recommended.

Pennsylvania: Philadelphia, and New Jersey: Jersey Shore South and South Jersey — PhilAbundance, 302 West Berks St., 8:30 a.m.-noon. Volunteers will sort and prepare food for local distribution. Volunteers should bring comfortable work clothes. Closed-toe shoes are required. Volunteers must be at least nine years old.
