It’s a new writing and meeting place dedicated to imaginative literature
The newly-opened Imaginative Writers’ Room in Hogg Hall is open to any member of the Lafayette community as a place for writing any sort of imaginative literature: fiction, poetry, drama, screenplays, song lyrics, or hybrid forms.
The room, located on the lower level of Hogg Hall, is open from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. daily. It has a non-circulating library with books and current periodicals featuring creative writing. Students also plan to have a rolling art exhibition in the room.
The room may also be reserved for writing group meetings, individual meetings with visiting writers, and other special events by groups dedicated to imaginative writing.
Students who have been principally involved include Emily Weisenreder ’08 (Pasadena, Md.), of the Marquis literary magazine, and Karen Ruggles ’08 (Easton, Pa.) and Max Minckler ’10 (Ford Lauderdale, Fla.), of W.O.R.D.S. (Writing Organization Reaching Dynamic Students). Both the Marquis and W.O.R.D.S. will use the room for their meetings.
Student groups may reserve the room for a meeting by noting the date and time in the reservations book inside the room and informing Jill Riefenstahl of the Department of English (riefensj@lafayette.edu), phone 610-330-5234.
