She’s an enthusiastic member of the Alumni Online Community

Even before graduation, Stephanie Marcon ’06 knew she wanted to be part of the Alumni Online Community.

“I remember hearing about it when I got my cap and gown,” recalls Marcon, an Africana studies graduate. “I signed up for it right away.”

Marcon, now head women’s lacrosse coach at St. Francis University in Loretto, Pa., says she knew distance would make staying in touch with Lafayette difficult.

“I’ve returned to the College for the Lehigh-Lafayette game, as well as an alumni lacrosse game in which I participated,” she explains. “But when you live far away it’s hard to know everything that’s going on. Now, not only do I know what’s happening on campus, I can look up alumni events in my area. Some of the alumni where I live are even talking about going to a [Pittsburgh] Pirates game together.”

Marcon also likes that the service allows alumni to do more than catch up with old friends.

“It helps you be in touch not only with people you knew from Lafayette, but people you didn’t. It allows you to meet new alumni and share with them your common experiences,” she says.

As for her favorite feature, Marcon says it’s the online Class Notes that keep her coming back.

“I look at Class Notes more than anything,” she states. “I like that it lets you know that other Lafayette graduates are doing great things. I take a lot of pride in that.”
