Choreographer Trey McIntyre won great acclaim with the many dances he created for the American Ballet Theater, Stuttgart Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance, and Houston Ballet, where he served as resident choreographer until 2007. Three years ago, he began his all-star Trey McIntyre Project tours, which gathered some of the finest international dancers drawn to his choreography. Now incorporated as a year-round company based in Boise, Idaho, Trey McIntyre Project has launched a new era in contemporary dance, with a crack ensemble of nine dancers trained in modern and balletic technique. McIntyre’s repertory features many new commissioned works, two of which will be shown at Lafayette: White Bird’s Portland, Ore., hit, titled (serious), set to the music of Henry Cowell; and Sun Road, created for Wolf Trap’s Face of America series of tributes to America’s national parks.
