Lafayette students and recent grads interested in pursuing full-time graduate studies at a top-tier business school promise to benefit from an expansion of scholarship opportunities at the University of Rochester’s Simon Graduate School of Business.
In 2006, Lafayette joined a small number of undergraduate colleges and universities that are partnering with the Simon School’s Early Leaders Initiative, through which Simon recruits outstanding candidates for full-time study in its MBA or M.S. programs who have zero to three years work experience. Simon’s merit-based Partner Scholarships have been increased from $5,000 per year to $10,000 per year for qualified students.
Christopher Haight ’09, the first graduate of the policy studies program, received a Simon Early Leaders scholarship of $10,000 for each of the two years of Simon’s MBA program. He was eligible for priority admission consideration and a waived application fee because of Lafayette’s partnership with the Simon School.
“Simon’s Early Leaders Initiative aims to attract the best and brightest prospective students without requiring a set number of years of prior work experience,” says Mark Crain, Simon Professor of Political Economy and chair of policy studies, who coordinates the program. Representatives from the Simon School visit Lafayette twice a year to meet with interested students and faculty advisers.
