The MJAC Student Memorial Site will be dedicated during a ceremony at noon Friday, May 21 in the grass between Pardee Hall and Farinon College Center.
The memorial is dedicated to the four Lafayette students who died since the current seniors enrolled at the College: Marina Petersen ’10, Jeremy Saxe ’09, Adam Lambert ’08, and Christopher Reynoso ’11. As part of the senior gift from the Class of 2010, the memorial is comprised of four Adirondack chairs, each with a plaque bearing the name of one of the students.
“As a school and as a class, we were shocked and upset at the loss of Marina’s life,” says Teevrat Garg ’10, co-chair of the Senior Class Fund Drive. “As we came to terms with her absence, and the loss of Jeremy, Adam, and Chris, we felt that a physical memorial should be established to commemorate their lives and friendship and how we continue to miss them every single day.”
Speaking during the ceremony will be President Daniel Weiss; John Colatch, College chaplain and director of religious life; friends of the students; and fund drive co-chairs Garg, Kelly Hilovsky ’10, and Ian Stone ’10.
