Through class work and shooting assignments, students in the Digital Photography course learn the ins and outs of successfully composing a fine art photograph by exploring genres such as landscape, street photography, portraiture, the body in photography, and documentary photography. Taught this summer by Greta Brubaker, visiting instructor of art, the class allows students to operate top-of-the-line digital SLR cameras, use Adobe Photoshop as a ‘”digital darkroom,'” produce exhibition-quality prints, and study the history of photography.
Students also interact with top photographers in the field. This past school year, guest artists Duane Michals and Abelardo Morell spoke to the class about their work, and students visited the home studio of world-renowned photographer Larry Fink.
