Ryo Tokita’s Sei (Life), an exhibition of work by the Japanese-born printmaker and painter runs through Jan. 28 at the William Center Gallery. The painting and prints in the exhibition range from meticulously executed op art painting to subtle acrylics on rice paper mounted on a panel.
The exhibition is free and open to the public. A reception for the artist will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16. (The snow date is Jan. 23). The Williams Center Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday 11 a.m.–5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday noon–5 p.m. and 7:30–9:30 p.m. on performance evenings. Exhibitions at the Williams Center are funded in part by a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Tokita came to the United States in 1969. He studied at the Art Students League and Pratt Institute Graphics Center and moved to Pen Argyl, Pa., in 1989. He was part of the Grossman Gallery’s first regional artists exhibition in 2001.
