Students shop and eat during last year's African Market.

Lafayette will celebrate Black History Month throughout February with poetry, food, music, discussions, performances, and a fashion show.

Through the theme of “Beats, Rhymes, & Life,” the month’s events will explore the past, present, and future of black artistry. The celebration’s keynote performance will be Brooklyn-based poet and spoken word artist Brook Yung 8 p.m. Feb. 11 in Farinon College Center Snack Bar.

The month’s events are coordinated by the Office of Intercultural Development and are sponsored by the Africana studies program; the Association of Black Collegians, the Office of Religious Life, and the Williams Center for the Arts.
