International Students Association Hosts Annual Extravaganza March 20-26

The International Students Association (ISA) is hosting its annual Extravaganza cultural festival March 20-26. Under the theme “One World, Many Faces,” the events will focus on working collaboratively as a community, but recognizing the diverse backgrounds and talents that each person brings to the table.

Activities are themed around various regions of the world and include brown bag lectures, evening discussions, workshops, music and dance performances, a fashion show, and an international food tasting. The week’s keynote address will be presented by Paul Moore Jr., COO and vice president of CitiHope International, a nonprofit that promotes health and disease prevention in rural and underserved populations worldwide.

Throughout the week, the flags of countries represented by our students and community will be displayed on the Quad. The week culminates with the traditional Grand Finale 8 p.m. Saturday, March 26, in the Williams Center for the Arts.

Sunday, March 20

Monday, March 21

• Noon – Europe exhibition (Landis Atrium, Farinon College Center )
• 7 p.m. – Film: Marina of the Zabaleen, story of a seven-year-old girl living in the Muqattam garbage recycling village in Cairo, Egypt  (Limburg Theater)
• 9 p.m. – WORDS/ISA open-mic night (Gilbert’s Café backroom)

Tuesday, March 22

• 11 a.m. – Lecture/music demonstration by classical tabla virtuoso Zakir Hussain (Williams Center for the Arts)
• Noon – South Asia exhibition (Landis Atrium)
• 12:20 p.m. – Discussion: Blacks in America and Abroad (Marlo Room, Farinon College Center)
• 8 pm – Zakir Hussain & Niladri Kumar in concert (Williams Center for the Arts)

Wednesday, March 23

• Noon – East and Southeast Asia exhibition (Landis Atrium)
• 12:15 p.m. – Brownbag: Human Trafficking in the 21^st Century with Association of Lafayette Feminists (Oechsle Hall)
