Matthew Hyde
Matthew Hyde, associate director of admissions at Tufts University, has been appointed director of admissions at Lafayette.
“I am pleased that Matt Hyde has accepted our offer to serve as Lafayette’s next director of admissions,” says Greg MacDonald, dean of admissions and financial aid. “He brings a keen understanding of the liberal arts at the secondary and collegiate levels that will help him develop critical relationships with counselors and students in markets where Lafayette is not highly visible today. I expect him to be a key leader in expanding our applicant pool and shaping the admissions team in the years ahead.”
A member of the Tufts admissions staff since 2004, Hyde became associate director in 2007. He served in admissions positions at the Northfield Mount Herman School and Milton Academy, both in Massachusetts, from 1999 to 2004. He holds a master of education degree in higher education from Harvard University and a bachelor of arts degree, with majors in U.S. history and environmental studies, from Bowdoin College.
Hyde’s appointment is effective July 1. He succeeds Carol Rowlands, Lafayette’s director of admissions since 1998, who has been promoted to the newly created position of associate dean of admissions and financial aid for operations and research.
Hyde and his wife, Charity, are the parents of two young children.
