As in all situations, the safety of the campus community has been the top priority in Lafayette’s response to the historic storm and resulting power outage, which continues as of this writing. Essential campus operations have functioned without interruption throughout the storm and outage, although classes have been cancelled and administrative offices closed all week. The Incident Action Group continues to monitor and respond to the situation around the clock. Staff in many areas of the College, including the Office of Residence Life, the Office of Public Safety, Dining Services, Plant Operations, Health and Counseling Services, and others have worked tirelessly to keep students safe, secure, informed, and comfortable.
President Daniel H. Weiss said, “Our College community continues to demonstrate strength and resiliency in a difficult situation.”
Communication to students from the Office of Residence Life includes regular updates about plans for student activities on campus, facilities that are available for student use (including charging stations for cell phones and other electronics), and schedules for student services, including dining services, LCAT shuttle bus, campus post office, etc. The following gallery shows some cleanup efforts on campus and students enjoying post-hurricane activities.

With power outages across the region, we appreciate the foresight Lafayette has taken to be prepared for storms like Sandy. So thankful for the dedicated staff keeping students safe, warm and well fed!
