Farinon College Center will be buzzing with activity Tuesday night as more than 100 students from a variety of majors will come together to produce the College’s live election-night television broadcast, “Fifty States of Grey.”

Running from 9-11 p.m., the show will provide up-to-the-minute information on races for the White House, Senate, and House of Representatives to audiences on campus and around the globe. The broadcast can be viewed by millions of viewers on WLVT Channel 39, the PBS affiliate in the Lehigh Valley, and audiences worldwide via live stream on the internet.
Student teams will also be providing real-time updates through the broadcast’s Twitter and Facebook sites.
The telecast will originate from sets in the Farinon Center’s Landis Atrium. A pre-event party featuring food, music, and dancing will take place in Farinon from 7-9 p.m.
Hosted by the Policy Studies Program, this is the third election year the ambitious TV initiative is covering. The core group for the broadcast is part of an economics course taught by Mark Crain, Simon Professor of Political Economy and chair of policy studies, but dozens of other students are involved through other classes and student groups. Over the past several months, students have researched the issues and candidates, written scripts, prepared storyboards, created pre-recorded and live modules, and had extensive training behind and in front of the camera.
