Thousands of Lafayette students, alumni, parents, and friends came out to support Leopard football Saturday during the 148th game in college football’s most-played rivalry at Fisher Stadium. Although Lehigh beat Lafayette, 38-21, the day and preceding week were full of excitement on campus.
Students got ready for the game during Rivalry Week, which included Mountain Hawk wing-eating, Toss the Hawk, and Lafayette Spirit Costume competitions and the annual Pep Rally.
The College also announced that Lafayette will host the 150th meeting in the series at Yankee Stadium Nov. 22, 2014.
The Lafayette-Lehigh series dates back to 1884, when Lafayette won, 50-0, in Easton. The two teams met twice a year from 1884-1901 (three times in 1891) and once a year since then with the exception of 1896, when a player eligibility dispute cancelled the game. The Leopards lead the series 76-67-5.
