Point guard Jamie O’Hare ’16 of the women’s basketball team was named to the 2012-13 Patriot League All-Rookie Squad, the league announced Tuesday.
O’Hare averaged 6.1 points per game, appearing in all 29 games for the Leopards while starting in 19 of those contests. The 5’6” guard ripped down 3.1 boards per game and also led the team in assists with 2.4 per contest, good enough for 10th in the league ranks.
“Jamie has an uncanny ability to get to the rim and hit the three,” head coach Dianne Nolan said. “We needed offensive production from that position, based on how much we rely on our forwards to score. She gives us a strong sense of competitiveness and tenacity along with her ability to handle the ball, knock down shots and be smart on the floor with a solid basketball IQ.”
The Staten Island, N.Y., native had her best game of the year against Navy (the No. 2 seed in this year’s Patriot League Tournament) Jan. 13 in Annapolis, Md. O’Hare tallied 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field and went 3-of-6 from beyond the arc.
The seventh-seeded Leopards travel to Navy Thursday evening to take on the Mids in the quarterfinal round of the Patriot League Tournament. Opening tip from Alumni Hall is set for 7 p.m.
