The Lafayette Sports Network (LSN) has been named a finalist for a College Sports Media Award. The awards are presented by the Sports Video Group (SVG) and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).
LSN’s broadcast of the Lafayette men’s basketball game vs. Bucknell is a nominee for Best Live Game and Event Production. Also nominated in the category are Florida State University, the Southland Conference, and the University of North Carolina’s GoHeels.TV.
“It’s a great honor and certainly humbling for the Lafayette Sports Network to be nominated in the same category as other strong college sports broadcasters,” says Scott Morse, director of athletic communications and executive producer of LSN telecasts. “It’s really a credit to our incredibly talented production crew and on-air talent. They are a special group and they’re always ready to seize the opportunity when incredible plays and defining moments occur.”
This nominated broadcast took place Feb. 16 inside Kirby Sports Center, with point guard Tony Johnson ’13 nailing a pull-up jumper with 4.5 seconds left to give Lafayette a dramatic 63-62 victory.
Representing a wide array of college athletic and academic departments, as well as professional networks, production companies, and student productions, the nominees are spread across four divisions in a total of 16 categories.
Submissions were subject to an initial grading process to separate nominees from honorable mentions. The winners will be selected by a panel of judges and announced at a ceremony May 29 at the SVG College Sports Summit in Atlanta, Ga.
