“Woke up this morning feeling different,” tweeted @alisonbyerly July 1. “Looked in the mirror and realized I had turned into… a Leopard.”
Appointed the College’s 17th president in January, Alison Byerly took office last Monday, after serving in leadership positions at Middlebury College for 13 years, most recently as provost and executive vice president. She’s one of the nation’s most prominent thought leaders on the role of technology in higher education.
Byerly settled into her new office in 316 Markle Hall and moved into the President’s House at 515 College Avenue with her husband, Stephen Jensen. Their family includes a daughter, Laramie, a student at Carleton College, and a son, Ryan, a high school student.
Byerly’s inauguration is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 4. In addition to the Inaugural Convocation, events will include a luncheon, roundtable discussion on “New Models for Higher Education,” reception, dinner, and Inaugural Ball. Many other events are being planned for alumni and friends of the College to meet the new president on and off campus. Information on inaugural events and other programs will be posted on the College’s website.
