This year’s Commencement celebration featured a revamped Baccalaureate service, which included several original senior reflections through music, film, poetry, and prose.

  • Shanequa Lassiter, from New York, N.Y. (A.B., women’s and gender studies); Jenny Mena, from Bronx, N.Y. (A.B., Africana studies and psychology), Kahmia Moise, from Jamaica, N.Y. (A.B., English); and Abenezer Solomon, from Brooklyn, N.Y. (A.B., government & law and anthropology & sociology), presented a spoken word and percussion performance called “Tongues and Hands Untied.”
  • Alyson Shumeyko, from Vestal, N.Y. (A.B., English and film & media studies), and Erin Elizabeth Townley, from Circleville, N.Y. (B.S., neuroscience), sang “Pie Jesu” by Andrew Lloyd Webber, while Kok Thong Wong, from Kuantan, Malaysia (A.B., music and theater), accompanied them on keyboard.
