President Alison Byerly emailed the following message to the campus community today.
I am delighted to announce the appointment of Roger A. Demareski as Lafayette’s new vice president for finance and administration. The appointment is effective November 17.
Roger Demareski brings 23 years’ experience in strategic planning, capital budgeting and operations, and other financial and administrative functions. He has served as assistant vice president for facilities operations at Princeton since 2008, following eight years of service as associate vice president for finance and administration at Seton Hall University.
Demareski began his career at Turner Construction Co., rising to senior project manager with responsibility for all construction processes. He joined Seton Hall in 2000 as associate vice president for finance and administration. He holds a B.S. in civil engineering degree from Villanova University and an MBA from Seton Hall.
Roger and his wife, Kristine, are the parents of sons Jack, Peter, Joe, and Patrick. He has been a volunteer firefighter and EMT for 23 years.
Between now and November 17, Controller Steve Schafer will be carrying out the functions of the vice president for finance and administration, working closely with myself, the Cabinet, and the Board. I greatly appreciate Steve’s willingness to take on these additional responsibilities.
I am very grateful to Prof. Rosie Bukics for chairing this successful search, as well as to the other members of the search committee: Ashley Bianchi, Sam Chapin, George Jenkins, Hal Kamine, Jim Krivoski, Nancy Kuenstner, John O’Keefe, Mary Roth, and David Woglom.
Finally, my thanks to the entire community for your patience and support during this period of intensive recruitment. Our success in filling all of these senior positions quickly reflects a high level of regard for Lafayette in the external marketplace, and enthusiasm for being part of our ambitious agenda. I know that our new colleagues will feel warmly welcomed by the Lafayette community, and I look forward to working with them in the years to come.
